Most striking about the new name is the presence of the word affiliate in it. Google makes clear it commits to this form of advertising, and chooses the classic Affiliate Marketing above other possibilities such as performance marketing. This will undoubtedly improve the general image of the affiliate marketing industry. With the launch of this new network, established ones such as CommissionJunction or Tradedoubler now suddenly face Google sized competition. A large, wide spanning and varied publisher base is the most important reason for an advertiser in their choice of network. With almost every website on the globe already displaying Google AdSense ads, the network probably won’t have much trouble reeling in publishers, and advertisers. Competition of this size is good news for especially the publishers. A network can’t survive without them, and incentives for affiliates to to choose one network over the other will undoubtedly increase across networks. Google’s legendary status of being a company unable to communicate with directly, will play in favour of the established networks. Affiliates need direct and personal assistance from their networks. To be very successful, Google will need to crumble it’s impersonal monolith image by being a partner you can actually have a conversation with. Nevertheless, having a score of affiliate moneymaking possibilities of which AdSense is just one, will definitely attract publishers worldwide, regardless. Link : Google Affiliate Network
