According to the company itself, Amazon Widgets are small, visually dynamic, easily configurable tools that allow you to feature products from Amazon on your Web site, blog or social-networking pages. If an Amazon Associate's widget leads to a sale, you get up to 10 percent in referral fees as reward. Users can populate a widget with their own favorite Amazon products, comments about those products, and select from a set of color and layout themes to match both mood and site. Each widget has a different approach to push the products. Some look like a slideshow, some look like a cloud or cluster of product titles that are relevant to the content of the page, and so on. In one week two major companies started offering publishers embeddable mini-applications like this, as Google also announced Google Gadget Ads. Gadget Ads are similar interactive widgets with rich-media capabilities, but advertisers get charged per impression or per click.
