Both sites allow you to quickly create a webpage about any topic you choose. You can add tags to the article  you just wrote, so people searching for something on the site can find relevant articles easily. This way the site has grown to almost a million pages, and is one of the top 300 websites in the US.

Hubpages is similar to Squidoo as it also allows to add pages and articles to the site, and pays out ad revenue to the writers. Both sites also allow you to create pages using a variety of modules and features, but also HTML. This means you can get some quick and easy backlinks to your site absolutely for free.

Hubpages currently has a PageRank of 6, and Squidoo a PageRank of 8. This PR easily trickles down to the articles, especially if they get some attention on the site, for instance by being featured, rated or commented. The more active you are in the communities, the more attention your articles will get of course. In each case, since the pages are well indexed by the search engines, these sites easily allow you to make your own website more relevant concerning your self chosen topics.

Register as a Squidoo or Hubpages user, write articles containing the keywords of your choice and also add links to your websites of course. This way your site will be credited with some extra backlinks from an external site writing about a topic relevant to your site. This is exactly what search engines are looking for when evaluating websites for a certain keyword, which means better search engines scores and more traffic.

Both sites are protected against inserting affiliate marketing links directly by the way. Squidoo and Hubpages can’t therefore be used as direct marketing tools, but remain interesting for online promotion nevertheless.
