1. Use good keywordsWe said it before, we’re saying it again : it’s better to rule your neighbourhood than to get lost in the crowd. Don’t be too general. Build your site around keywords that ideally nobody else is using. Be aware that some keywords just aren’t sought after either. Use your expertise to come up with words that are relevant to your topic, better yet, invest in a tool to do it for you. The words people are looking for change all the time, so having a tool to scope out possible new keywords saves you time and will score you traffic. 2. Serve the nicheFind your niche, put your heart into it, and work it. Becoming a nicheleader should be your only goal. Don’t just start a site around a topic you’re only half interested in, just because you believe there’s more money to be made. You’ll quickly lose motivation for the regular and substantial content updates a site needs to survive. Quality doesn’t come from a marketing interest, and quality is all people are really interested in. 3. Keep your public’s attentionTo getting people’s attention change and up-to-dateness are key. People aren’t interested in year old stories, nor will they be interested in the accompanying offers in the AdSense box next to them. Make sure the content on your site is updated regularly, and is accurate and complete if you want to be informative, or fresh and newsworthy if you’re more into entertaining people. 4. Devote the timeSerious websites need a lot of attention. If you’re not trying to build your site like it will become your main source of income, it probably never will be. Next to the site itself there is a lot of time you should invest into promoting it as well. Don’t just build a great site. Especially in the beginning you should devote most of your time to spreading it around. 5. IntegrateAdSense blocks can just be pasted somewhere, or they can be made to look like they are an integrated part of your site. Don’t just put them anywhere either. Place the blocks next to content that you yourself believe might generate interesting ads. Scattering the AdSense code on each and every page is the best way to chase away any intention to click them. |
