It’s hard to find a site nowadays that doesn’t run AdSense. The AdSense income of a website has probably become a more important site value indicator than the amount of unique visitors. We compressed everything you need to know here

Placing a block of these ads on your site is simply the logical step for creating an extra income next to using other affiliate links from networks and retailers. But AdSense comes with some strict terms of use.

Don’t click your own ads

The best way to get your AdSense account closed down is clicking your own ads, or getting them clicked by others. A couple of clicks from the same IP-address on the same ad can be enough to alert Google’s machinelearned detectives of your clickfraud.

Don’t fiddle with the code

On the outside of the code you can do whatever you want with it. But there are standard customizations and optimizations available to change the inside of the code. Trying to change the inside of the code beyond these standards may cause the code to stop working and violate the terms of service.

Don’t launch new pages for clicked ads

AdSense wants their ads to open on the same page, so don’t let all your links open in a new window by default. Correct it now as they do not want new pages opening from clicked ads.

Don’t use more accounts for multiple websites

One account’s enough for any number of websites you might manage. When they find out, you’ll be shut down completely if you register more than one account . You can separate between sites using channels.

Don’t use ads next to any content

It’s forbidden to place the units next to some content. These content types are : mp3’s, video, and news groups. Also forbidden are ads next to pornographic, hate-related, violent, or illegal content.

Don’t place more than 3 ad units on one page

This is the rule, so apart from the fact that 3 units on one page looks already ridiculous enough , you just can’t.

Don’t mess with the click result

Don’t frame, minimize, redirect or otherwise inhibit the full and complete display of any page the person who clicks the ad is directed to.

Don’t use adjacent images

Placing a same number of images next to the text ads falsely gives the impression that the ads represented an explanation to these images. Ads and images are not allowed to be arranged in a way that could mislead or confuse your visitors.

Don’t mimic AdSense ad units with other affiliate links

Google allows competition from other similar contextual advertising services, as along as they don’t resemble AdSense ads. It’s also forbidden to create structures with other affiliate links yourself that look the same.

Don’t disclose confidential information

The only thing you’re allowed to disclose is the total amount of money you make form AdSense per website.

Don’t choose your own label headings

The only headings allowed are “sponsored links” and “advertisements”.

Place ads only on content pages

If Google finds out you place ads on pages that don’t have content like login, registration, “thank you” pages or pop ups, they will throw you out of the program.

Do not mask ad elements

Blending the ad with your site is a good idea, but hiding relevant parts is not allowed, for example blocking the ‘Ads by Google’ with a layer.

Don’t send your ads by e-mail

Placing AdSense ads in e-mails is forbidden

Don’t use unsupported language

Adsense only supports Chinese , Japanese, Danish, Korean, Dutch, Norwegian, English, Polish, Finnish, Portuguese, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Hungarian, Swedish, Italian and Turkish.
